A two-page market report with sources from Manus, verified by you
Give Manus (or Genspark’s Super Agent) a niche and get back a two-page report: market size and trend, five players compared in a table, pricing, risks, and a numbered source list with links. Then spend fifteen minutes checking the sources, because a report nobody verified is a liability, not a deliverable.
Steps
- Sign in at manus.im. The free plan gives a small daily credit allowance that only runs the lighter model; Standard is $20/mo. Tasks cost credits by complexity and duration (a research task of this size typically runs for several minutes and uses a few hundred credits), and Manus cannot estimate the cost beforehand, so do not ask it to.
- Decide the niche in one line before you start, with a region and a buyer: “cloud kitchens in the Gulf for restaurant owners”, not “food tech”. Write down the five companies you already know in the space; if you know none, let the agent choose, but say so in the prompt.
- Optional but useful: click + next to Projects, give it a name, and paste your standing rules as the master instruction (language, USD only, cite everything, the two-page limit). Upload anything you already have (an old deck, a competitor list) as the knowledge base. Every task inside the project inherits both.
- Start a new task, make sure you are not in Chat mode (type /chatmode only if you want free answers without the agent), paste the prompt below with the placeholders filled, and send it. Manus plans the steps, browses in its own cloud computer and builds the file; you can watch the steps and the pages it opens on the right, and answer if it asks a question.
- When it finishes, open the result in the file panel and read the whole thing once without clicking any link. Mark every number that would change a decision (market size, growth rate, prices, customer counts). Then reply in the same task with fixes: “sources 4 and 7 are blogs, replace them with primary sources” or “the table is missing pricing for {COMPANY}”.
- Verify: open every source link. Does the page exist, is it from the organisation the report claims, and does it actually contain the number cited? Fix or delete anything that fails, and write “unverified” next to numbers you could not confirm. Expect two or three failures per report; that is normal for every research agent today.
- Download the final file, add a one-line note with the date and “sources checked by {YOUR NAME}”, and share it. To let a colleague see how it was made, use the share button on the task, enable public access and copy the link. Alternative: in Genspark, choose Super Agent and paste the same prompt; it works on free daily credits and returns a document you verify the same way.
Prompt
Replace anything in { } with your details.
Research {NICHE, e.g. cloud kitchens} in {REGION} for {WHO WILL READ THIS, e.g. a restaurant owner deciding whether to enter}. Deliver one document file (Markdown or Word), maximum 2 pages, in {LANGUAGE}.
Structure:
1. One-paragraph summary with the 3 facts the reader must know.
2. Market size and trend for the last 3 years and the next 2, with the source next to every number. Use USD only.
3. A comparison table of 5 players ({COMPANIES YOU ALREADY KNOW, or write “choose the 5 largest”}): company, what they sell, pricing or business model, target customer, funding or owner, one weakness. Every cell with a number gets a source number.
4. Three risks or open questions for the reader.
5. Numbered source list: title, organisation, year, direct URL.
Rules:
- Prefer primary sources: company pages, regulators, official statistics, annual reports, named analyst reports. Use news only for dates and funding. No blogs, no content farms, no sources you cannot link.
- If you cannot find a reliable number, write “no reliable source found” instead of estimating.
- Do not invent companies or URLs. Open each URL before citing it.
- Stay within the 2-page limit; cut detail, not sources. Expected output
A two-page document with a summary, sourced market numbers in USD, a five-company comparison table, three risks and a numbered link list, plus your own verification pass marking what was confirmed, corrected or removed.
Gotchas
- ⚠ Research agents invent sources: a plausible title, a real organisation, a URL that returns 404. The “open each URL before citing” rule reduces this but does not remove it, which is why step 6 exists.
- ⚠ Credits are charged for the whole run, including retries and dead ends, and only refunded when the failure is on Manus’s side. One long, specific prompt costs less than three vague ones; and never trust a credit estimate the agent gives you in chat.
- ⚠ Numbers for Gulf and Arabic-speaking markets are thin online; the agent will fall back to global figures or consultancy press releases. Ask it to flag the region each number covers.
- ⚠ Free-plan tasks run on the lighter model and the daily allowance resets; a report of this size may not fit in one day on the free plan, and Genspark’s free credits have a lifetime cap.
- ⚠ Do not upload confidential documents to the knowledge base unless your company allows it; the agent browses in a cloud sandbox, and shared task links are public to anyone with the URL.
