Summarize Arabic slides or a PDF into a summary and flashcards

🧪 Tested: no (draft) ⏱ ~20 min Updated: 2026-10-17

Goal

Turn a lecture PDF or slide deck (Arabic or English) into a one-page summary, key terms and 20 flashcards you can study from.

Steps

  1. Export the slides as PDF. If the PDF is a scan (you can't select the text), run it through OCR first or the AI will misread the Arabic.
  2. Open Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM), create a notebook and upload the PDF as a source.
  3. Paste the prompt below into the chat. Ask for answers in Arabic or English to match your exam.
  4. Check every definition against the slides; correct anything that does not cite a page.
  5. Copy the 'Front;Back' lines into a flashcard app (e.g. Quizlet's import box), using ';' as the separator.
  6. Study, then ask the notebook for 10 exam-style questions on the parts you got wrong.

Prompt

Replace anything in { } with your details.

You are my study assistant. Using ONLY the uploaded source:
1. Write a one-page summary in {LANGUAGE} with headings that follow the lecture order.
2. List the 15 most important terms with a one-line definition and the slide/page number.
3. Create 20 flashcards, one per line, in the format: Front;Back (no numbering, no extra text).
4. List 3 points that are likely exam questions.
If something is not in the source, say "not in the source" instead of guessing.

Expected output

A one-page summary, a glossary with page references, 20 import-ready flashcards and 3 likely exam topics.

Gotchas

  • ⚠ Scanned Arabic PDFs are the #1 failure: OCR first.
  • ⚠ Long files may be cut; split very large decks into parts.
  • ⚠ Never trust a definition without a page reference.
  • ⚠ Upload only material you are allowed to share; check your university's AI policy.
