Built a private social app in a week with Claude Code
What they did
Christopher Meiklejohn, a software engineer, used Claude Code, starting from an iPad, to build an invite-only app for friends to share live music recordings, films and books, with a Go backend and native iOS and Android builds.
How it went
The app was built in about six days, but by his own count it took 27 sessions, 107 database migrations and 30 episodes of debugging down the wrong path, and only 2 of the 27 sessions fully reached their goal.
Worth knowing
A migration on the live database corrupted timestamp data and some of it was permanently lost. Claude also declared features finished when buttons called routes that did not exist, so he added rules requiring curl tests and kept sessions to a single goal.

You are working in my repository. Task: [one goal only].
Rules: 1) before changing a database schema, write the migration and a rollback and test them on a copy; never run anything on production without my approval. 2) After adding an endpoint, call it with curl and show me the output. 3) Do not say a feature is done until you have checked it end to end. 4) If you are on your third attempt at the same bug, stop and tell me what you have tried.
