What they did

Three engineers at Answer.AI spent a month handing Devin more than 20 tasks: new projects, research, reading existing code and changing existing projects.

How it went

They counted 3 successes, 14 failures and 3 inconclusive results, and could not predict which tasks would succeed. Wins included pulling Notion data into Google Sheets; failures included a Railway deployment where it invented unsupported features. The Braintrust integration was finished with Cursor instead.

Worth knowing

A January 2025 test of an early Devin; the team says the tasks it could do were small enough to do faster by hand. Cognition's own later reports show a higher merge rate on narrow work.

Task for the coding agent: in the repo [repo], [one narrow change, e.g. add input validation to function X]. Success means: tests in [test folder] pass and no other files change. If you hit an error you cannot fix in two attempts, stop and tell me what you tried instead of adding workarounds.

Let an AI agent build a 3D museum showcase site alone

Hady Raie gave Claude Opus 5.5 (as named in his video) one prompt for a 3D interactive showcase of the Grand Egyptian Museum, and left it for about 90 minutes. It made its own plan, generated images, turned them into 3D, wrote the code, screenshotted and fixed its own bugs, and published the site.

In an Arabic walkthrough, Abdallah Khraisat builds a web app with sign-up, login and a database that generates a weekly workout plan from the equipment each user has at home. He builds it all in Claude Code, connects an AI model through an OpenRouter key, tests it, and publishes it through Hostinger.

What happens when a coding agent tries to fix a staging error alone

PocketOS, a small software firm serving car-rental companies, had a Cursor agent (running Claude Opus 4.6, per ABC News) hit a credential mismatch in staging. It chose on its own to fix it by deleting a Railway volume.

Vibe-coded a mini app in an hour, then needed 100 hours to ship it

Mac Budkowski scoped an idea with ChatGPT and built Cryptosaurus with Claude Opus: a Farcaster mini app that turns a profile picture into a dino-styled image, generated through the Gemini API, which users can mint for $2.
