Your first n8n agent: a daily digest on Telegram

🧪 Tested: no (draft) ⏱ ~60 min Updated: 2026-10-17

Goal

Build a workflow that runs every morning, reads a few RSS feeds or websites, summarizes them with an AI model and sends you the digest on Telegram.

Steps

  1. Choose n8n Cloud (paid, nothing to install) or self-host the free Community Edition (Docker; needs a server that stays on). Beginners: start with the cloud trial or Make.
  2. Create a Telegram bot with @BotFather, copy its token, and add it as a Telegram credential in n8n.
  3. Add a Schedule Trigger (e.g. every day at 07:00 your local time; set the workflow time zone).
  4. Add RSS Read nodes for 2–4 feeds (e.g. this site's /en/new/feed.xml), then a node that keeps only the latest 10 items.
  5. Add an AI/LLM node (OpenAI, Anthropic or Google credential) with the prompt below, feeding in the items' titles and links.
  6. Add a Telegram 'Send Message' node to your chat ID. Run once manually, then activate the workflow.

Expected output

A Telegram message every morning with 5 summarized links and one suggested action.

Gotchas

  • ⚠ A self-hosted n8n on your laptop stops when the laptop sleeps; use a small always-on server or n8n Cloud.
  • ⚠ AI API calls are billed by the model provider separately from n8n.
  • ⚠ Keep tokens in n8n credentials, never inside node text.
  • ⚠ Scraping sites against their terms is not OK; prefer RSS and official APIs.
