Build a personal tool or website without coding (and get unstuck)

🧪 Tested: no (draft) ⏱ ~60 min Updated: 2026-10-17

Goal

Go from an idea to a working web app (e.g. a task tracker, booking page or calculator) in an hour, and unstick it when the AI loops on errors.

Steps

  1. Write a one-paragraph spec with the spec prompt below (use Claude or ChatGPT). Keep version 1 to 3–5 features.
  2. Paste the spec into Lovable (or Bolt.new) as the first message. Let it build, then test every button yourself.
  3. Change one thing per message. After each working change, save a version/checkpoint.
  4. If it breaks: copy the exact error text and use the 'unstuck' prompt. If the same error returns 3 times, restore the last working version instead of patching.
  5. Only add login, payments or a database once the core works; follow the tool's own guide for those.
  6. Publish with the tool's built-in deploy, and test on your phone.

Prompt

Replace anything in { } with your details.

Copy & paste
SPEC PROMPT:
Turn my idea into a build spec for an AI app builder. Idea: {IDEA}. Users: {WHO}. Language: {LANGUAGE} (if Arabic, the UI must be right-to-left).
Return: app name; one-sentence goal; 3–5 features as user stories; screens and what is on each; data to store; what is OUT of scope for v1. Keep it under 200 words.

UNSTUCK PROMPT:
Stop adding features. The app shows this error: {PASTE EXACT ERROR}. It happens when I {STEPS}. Explain the cause in one sentence, then fix only that, without changing anything else. If you're not sure, add logging first and tell me what to click.

Expected output

A published web app with 3–5 working features, plus a saved working version to roll back to.

Gotchas

  • ⚠ Credit limits run out fastest when the AI loops on one bug; roll back early.
  • ⚠ Don't paste API keys or passwords into the chat; use the tool's secrets/settings screen.
  • ⚠ Check who can see your published app before adding personal data (PDPL).
  • ⚠ Arabic RTL layouts often need an explicit 'make the whole UI right-to-left' instruction.
